I'll be in Chicago for a conference at the end of March and I'd like to check out one or more gay bars, ones where someone my age (mid 50s) would feel at home. In other words, not some place where everyone else calls me grandpa, or even a place where it's only about getting action tonight, but more of a place where I can "try on" being a gay man for a few hours. A couple of internet sites recommended Second Storey off the Mag Mile although it's very small, Manhandler on N. Halsted although it's very cruisy (and I'm not necessarily looking for action although I'd be intrested if someone was interested first), and Crew Bar + Grill on N. Broadway. I'll be staying in the Loop but I'm familiar enough with CTA to catch trains.
I wouldn't be averse to meeting any of you there either, but if you've got input on where to go, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
